Edinburg, Texas – District clerk staff presented a check today to The Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center in the amount of $2,000 as a part of their Blues for Bucks Workplace Fundraising Campaign. The staff-driven effort allows employees to wear jeans on Fridays in exchange for a $5 donation. The funds are collected for a six-month period then presented to a nonprofit organization that is randomly selected from a pool of nonprofit entities submitted by office employees.

“For the past 40 years, the Palm Valley Animal Center has served as our leading animal welfare organization working tirelessly to care for homeless companion animals in South Texas. The opening of The Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center has simply allowed this organization to take it to the next level by way of a state-of-the-art facility and advanced services of the highest standard,” said Laura Hinojosa, Hidalgo County District Clerk. “My staff and I are happy to help this extraordinary organization in any way that we can.”

The Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center opened on April 17, 2016, offering a state-of-the-art adoption and education center, a modernized location for adoptions, as well as increased community events and a full surgical center. The state-of-the-art facility features community cat rooms and kitten playrooms, as well as housing for more than 100 dogs and puppies. South of the center are dog parks for large and small dogs.
