Texas Border Business

WASHINGTON – Today Congressman Gonzalez issued a statement in response to the Iranian missile strikes on U.S. military personnel and airbases in Iraq:

“Last night’s attack on our military bases was unconscionable. My prayers are with the service members and families of those who were affected as well as the Iraqis and our coalition partners. While not unexpected, this event demonstrates that Iranian belligerence will persist with or without Soleimani.

I’m thankful American lives were not lost in last night’s military response from Iran, and it is my hope this the end to the present conflict. What happens next will have serious implications on U.S. foreign policy for years to come. I was not satisfied with the Administration’s briefing and Congress must be presented a clear strategy to deal with Iranian aggression and de-escalate this conflict before further U.S. troops are put in harm’s way.”
