UT System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa, M.D., will travel to South Texas Tuesday, Jan. 14 to continue dialogue with students, faculty, staff and community leaders about the creation of the new UT and medical school, now officially named The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Cigarroa’s first stop will be Abraham Lincoln Middle School in the McAllen Independent School District, where he will have the chance to answer the questions of students, teachers and administrators from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Abraham Lincoln Middle School is located at 1601 N. 27th St. in McAllen. Members of the media must check-in at the front office to receive a visitor’s pass.

The afternoon will be spent at UT Pan American in Edinburg meeting with faculty and staff from 2 to 3 p.m. and then with students from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the University Ballroom, 1201 W. University Dr. Media is invited to attend.

Designated community college and regional leaders will also have the opportunity to discuss the future of UT Rio Grande Valley with Chancellor Cigarroa at various times throughout the day.
