LAREDO, Texas – Laredo College celebrated its biggest event of the year alongside friends and partners who have been instrumental in furthering our legacy of excellence in the community.
Our 75th Anniversary Gala “West End Diamond Roundup” commemorated the 75 years of history and legacy of Laredo College as the city’s pioneering institution of higher learning.
The iconic Kazen Student Center was filled with community members and special guests. The stage was graced with the musical talent of Ross & Friends and a surprise performance by Tejano legend Pete Astudillo who is an LC alumnus.
Additionally, the college was honored with the attendance of LC alumna Consuelo Lopez. She received a surprise recognition for being part of the very first Laredo College class.
We would especially like to recognize our Diamond sponsors Killam Development and PNC Bank for their generosity and continuous support of Laredo College and our students. Their support, along with that of the more than 40 gala sponsors, was monumental in making this event a great success.
“We are honored to support Laredo College on this once-in-a-lifetime event, its 75th Anniversary, empowering its students to pursue their dreams,” President & CEO of Killam Development Cliffe Killam said. “For over seven decades, the college has thrived by offering accessible and quality education to empower students to pursue the opportunities that excite them. Communities are only as strong as the students that come out of these great classrooms, and we are humbled to participate in the enrichment of current and new academic programs. The Laredo College community have fundamentally shaped the prosperity and growth of Laredo over the past 75 years, and we are excited for what the future holds as the Laredo College community will continue to have an outsized impact on the future of Laredo.”
“On behalf of PNC, we would like to congratulate Laredo College on this momentous milestone,” said Susana Melendez-Valencia, PNC regional president for the Texas border market. “As a national main street bank, we recognize that we are only as strong as the community we live in and Laredo College is a key contributor to our community.”
Our institution’s success and our students’ achievements would not have been possible without the active involvement and generosity of our community members, friends and supporters. Thank you to every single person who attended our gala and who continue to empower us to carry out our mission of serving students and our community as our legacy of excellence continues.
