Judge Eloy Vera to deliver annual address on rescheduled date: April 1, 2025

Starr County, TX — The much-anticipated 2025 State of the County Address, initially set to take place tonight at the Julabe Event Center, has been postponed due to severe weather conditions, according to the Starr County Industrial Foundation (SCIF).
The event, led by Starr County Judge Eloy Vera, has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., allowing attendees early access to the venue, located at 5501 Acapulco St., in Rio Grande City.
Weather Concerns Prompt Caution
The postponement follows warnings from the National Weather Service, which alerted South Texas travelers of developing storms and poor road conditions. Rain and possible flooding will affect areas including Starr County, Kennedy County, Corpus Christi, and regions north toward Falfurrias.
Authorities caution against driving through low-visibility zones and high-standing water, encouraging residents to prioritize safety.
While the event is delayed, anticipation remains high. Judge Eloy Vera is expected to deliver an impactful address outlining the county’s recent infrastructure, economic development, and public service expansion strides.
“Our county has made incredible strides, but the journey is far from over,” said Judge Vera in a previous statement. “The State of the County Address provides an opportunity to celebrate our progress and set the stage for even greater achievements ahead.”
