South Texas College, the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, and McAllen Independent School District’s Youth Apprenticeship Program held a ceremonial signing day Oct. 31. Aaron Martinez (above) was among the 15 students who secured apprenticeships with businesses in McAllen. Martinez will work at Boggus Ford/Lincoln.

Students in western Hidalgo County are encouraged to register for the spring 2019 semester at STC Higher Education Center at La Joya. Courses are not just for high school students but for non-traditional students as well. The HEC is a beacon for students who are looking to earn a degree closer to home.
