Teclo Garcia, CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation, was recognized this week as one of the 2025 South Texas Power Players by the San Antonio Business Journal. The honor was presented at a private reception held on June 25, 2025, at the Centre Club in downtown San Antonio. The event brought together top business, civic, and nonprofit leaders from across South Texas, highlighting their contributions to regional growth and innovation.

Garcia was acknowledged for his leadership in advancing cross-border trade, championing entrepreneurship, and strengthening economic development in Mission and the Rio Grande Valley. Under his direction, Mission EDC has prioritized support for small businesses, investment tours, and infrastructure planning, helping place the city on the map as a fast-rising player in the state’s economic landscape.

In a statement shared by Mission EDC on social media, Garcia’s recognition was framed as part of a larger effort to position Mission and the RGV as a strategic hub. “Regional progress takes teamwork, and Mission is ALL IN,” the post read. “From championing entrepreneurship to expanding cross-border trade, our work is putting Mission and the RGV on the map in a big way.”

Among the many named as honorees were former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros, recognized in his capacity as Co-founder and Chairman of American Triple I Partners, William Dietrich – CEO, Port of Brownsville, and Juan Francisco Ochoa – Founder, Taco Palenque

Cisneros’ presence highlighted the significance of the evening’s lineup, which included executives, educators, nonprofit leaders, and policymakers representing communities from San Antonio to Mission, McAllen, and Laredo.

The South Texas Power Players list comprises individuals from a diverse range of sectors, including economic development, education, healthcare, finance, real estate, and public service. The event, hosted by the San Antonio Business Journal, was structured as an evening cocktail reception to celebrate honorees, sponsors, and their guests in an informal but high-level setting.
