Mission, TX – The City of Mission is gearing up to sign a sister city agreement with Fortin de las Flores, Veracruz. The signing will take place at the Mayor’s International Brunch on Jan. 25, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at the Mission Event Center.

“Together, Mission and Fortin will strive to promote cultural exchanges, and stimulate economic development through our newest sister city relationship,” Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña said. “We look forward to this new beginning. This agreement goes beyond a declaration on paper. It truly speaks to a historic connection and genuine ties with our friends across the border.”

The City of Mission has already begun forging ties with the Mexican city. On Dec. 11, 2019, the Mission Fire Department donated a fire truck to Fortin Mayor Antonio Mansur. The brunch signing with Fortin de las Flores will be Mission’s 26th sister city agreement.
