The Leadership Mid Valley class held its government session for the month of December.  Class participants were given the chance to meet with several government officials and entities at the city, county and state levels.

The day began at the Weslaco Business Visitor and Event Center with a presentation from Hidalgo Co. Precinct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes.  The session continued on with a visit with State Representative Armando Martinez, followed by a presentation by Weslaco City Manager Mike Perez.

The lunchtime presentation featured Weslaco City Commissioners Leo Muñoz and JP Rodriguez, followed by visits with the Weslaco Police and Fire Departments in the afternoon.

Class member Mae Vela especially enjoyed hearing from Weslaco’s leaders because as a citizen, it offered some insight to the City’s progression.

“This session helped to give me a better understanding of what direction Weslaco is going in and why things have been changing [for the better],” remarked Mae. “It feels great to know that the right moves are being made. I feel like I say this after every session, but this was my favorite session.”
