IBC Bank-McAllen to Host Texas Independence Day Celebration

IBC Bank-McAllen invites the public to attend its Texas Independence Day Celebration on March 2 at 9:00 a.m. at its 1 S. Broadway bank location.

The celebration will highlight the importance of the day with a flag-raising ceremony by the ROTC and remarks from state, city and county officials.

Schools participating in IBC Bank’s Minitropolis program will provide Texas-themed entertainment during the event. Students from Sam Houston Elementary (McAllen) will present a drama, Captain D. Salinas Elementary’s (Donna) choir will sing, Mims Elementary’s (Mission) dancers will perform and Alvarez Elementary’s (McAllen) drum line will highlight the festivities. In addition, the Museum of South Texas will provide hands-on activities about early Texas.

Texas Independence Day is the celebration of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence 180 years ago on March 2, 1836.
