Hidalgo health department reports 5 more deaths related to COVID-19 and 130 new positive cases

EDINBURG – The Hidalgo County Health and Human Services reported 5 more deaths and 130 new positive cases as of last Friday, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Monday. 

“There is a nationwide surge in new cases and that reminds us that we need to remain cautious and avoid crowds while wearing facial coverings in public,” Judge Cortez said. “I extend my prayers to the family and friends of the five additional people in our community who have died because of this virus.”

Friday’s new numbers bring the total number of deaths in Hidalgo County from this disease to 1,924 and the total number of known positive cases to 35,100.
