MISSION, Texas – Hidalgo County Precinct 3, under the leadership of Commissioner Everardo “Ever” Villarreal, has been honored once again with the esteemed “Quick Draw” award from Hidalgo Urban County, recognizing the precinct’s exceptional utilization of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. This award, presented at the recent Urban County Leadership Conference, celebrates Precinct 3’s unparalleled commitment to efficiently and effectively leveraging CDBG resources for crucial community improvements.

This year’s award underscores Precinct 3’s remarkable achievement in infrastructure enhancement, specifically the paving of an impressive 9 streets using CDBG funds—the highest number among all grant recipients in Hidalgo County for CDBG-funded projects. This figure exclusively represents the streets paved through CDBG allocations and does not encompass roads financed by the precinct’s general fund, grants from the Texas Department of Transportation, or major projects like the recent expansion of 3 Mile Line Road. By maximizing the impact of the CDBG program in this targeted manner, Precinct 3 has significantly enhanced accessibility and quality of life for local residents.
