ERO Architects Presents Check to Benefit Valley Scholar Students

McAllen, Texas – South Texas College’s Valley Scholars Program and ERO Architects came together for a check presentation, April 22, 2019. STC’s annual fundraising gala “A Night with the Stars” was granted $5,000 by ERO Architects which has been designated an official Diamond sponsor for the event. The annual gala takes place in October and is intended to raise scholarship funds, celebrate the accomplishments of Valley Scholars students, and honor supporters of higher education.

Valley Scholars student and psychology major, Daniella Ibarra, says the scholarship has benefited her in her journey through higher education.  “I was chosen to be a part of the Valley Scholars Program,” Ibarra said. “This scholarship has benefited me by helping me financially; ithelped me pay for all my school dues, pay for my books, and pay for classes.” 

ERO is an architectural firm located in McAllen,their works include STC’s new Nursing and Allied Health Building B. Brian Godinez, Principal and Chief Marketing Officer for ERO Architects, says ERO staff holds a strong bond with STC. “Weare an annual contributor for ‘A Night with the Stars Gala’ and we have such a strong commitment to education,” explained Godinez. “South Texas College holds such a personal relationship with all of our staff.”


Dr. Anahid Petrosian, Vice President of Academic Affairs at STC says this donation is greatly appreciated by the program. “Weare excited to kick-off our fundraising campaign with this sponsorship from ERO. It is a perfect example of local businesses partnering with South Texas College to improve the region’s economic prosperity through higher education. The Valley Scholars Program is thankful for the Diamond Sponsorship from ERO Architects and applauds their commitment to supporting students in the Rio Grande Valley.” 

STC’s Valley Scholars Program was established in 1997 to recognize and promote academic excellence by providing financial assistance, academic support services, mentoring, and leadership development to academically gifted and highly motivated students from Hidalgo and Starr counties. Support from local businesses and corporate sponsors enables the Valley Scholars Program to provide up to $2,000 in scholarship funds for Valley Scholars students pursuing an associate degree at South Texas College.
