WASHINGTON – As the 46th annual March for Life takes place in Washington, DC, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) helped introduce four pro-life bills that would protect the lives of unborn children, prohibit taxpayer funds from being used to pay for abortions, and safeguard federal funds for women’s health services. Sen. Cornyn voted yesterday to advance one of those bills, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.

“Today Texans from all different backgrounds have come to the nation’s capital to participate in one of the largest demonstrations to protect the unborn,” Sen. Cornyn said. “We have a moral responsibility to defend our most vulnerable, and I proudly joined my colleagues this week in support of pro-life measures to protect the sanctity of life and prioritize human life over death.”

This week, Sen. Cornyn helped introduce four pieces of pro-life legislation:

No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act – Prevents any taxpayer funds across federal programs from being used to pay for an abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or where the woman’s life is in danger.

Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – Makes it a crime to perform an abortion after 20 weeks post-fertilization.

Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act – Requires health care practitioners to exercise the same degree of professional skill and care to protect the newborn that survives a late-term abortion as any other newborn.

Protect Funding for Women’s Health Care Act – Prohibits federal funding of Planned Parenthood Federation of America or any of its affiliates or successor organizations and protects federal funding for women’s health services.
