Palmview, Texas – The City of Palmview is proud to announce that it has awarded local businesses with the Palmview CARES Small Business Grant Program. “Our communities are struggling right now as we continue to feel the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our economy and in our daily lives,” said Mayor Ricardo Villarreal. “Businesses are the backbone of our economy and as city leaders, we wanted to do our part to ensure that our local businesses get the support they need to continue to operate,” he added.

Launched in July, the Palmview CARES Small Business Program was created by the Palmview City Council utilizing $100,000 in CARES Act funding allocated to the city to assist small businesses located in Palmview who were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Providing some relief to our local businesses allows us the opportunity to keep our economy going, as loss of business can affect employment, taxes, and livelihoods,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Linda Sarabia. “The City of Palmview remains committed to helping our community through this crisis through available resources and programs such as this, and we are proud to have provided this funding to help so many of our Palmview businesses,” added Sarabia.

The awarded recipients received grants of $1,500, $3,000, or $5,000, depending on eligibility criteria. With funding from the program, eligible businesses can use the grant for operating expenses such as employee payroll, mortgage or rental lease payments, utilities, and other eligible expenses. The City of Palmview congratulates all awarded businesses!
