City of McAllen to Resume Parking Enforcement in Downtown McAllen

To better serve visitors and businesses in downtown McAllen, McAllen’s Downtown Parking Services Division will resume full parking enforcement Saturday May 1, 2021.

Enforcement was suspended last spring due to the pandemic in efforts to help slow the spread, support local businesses and to help keep employees and community safe.

Effective May 1, 2021, people visiting downtown McAllen should comply with all parking regulations. Parking enforcement includes City parking meters and off-street parking lots where decal permits are required to park. Parking payments can be made at the meters , with coins, or debit or credit card) or via smart phone using the Park Mobile app. Download the Park Mobile app through the App Store or Google Play. Debit and credit cards are accepted at Smart Meters on Main St., Park Mobile App and at the McAllen Parking Garage.

 The City of McAllen also encourages visitors to park at the McAllen Parking Garage, located at 221 S. 15th St. at the corner of 15th & Chicago,  which is open 24 hours, seven days a week to the general public. Rates are $1.00 for the first hour and $0.50 for each other after and the maximum rate is $5.00 a day. Overnight parking is permitted.
