EDINBURG, TEXAS (September 18, 2018) Edinburg City Manager Pilar Rodriguez will return to his position as Executive Director at the Regional Mobility Authority. His last day with the City of Edinburg is September 28th.
“I have enjoyed my time in Edinburg very much. It’s an exciting place to be. It’s dynamic. The Mayor, Council and staff are top notch. The work they do is always with the citizens in mind.” Said Rodriguez. “Unfortunately, I’m faced with some personal challenges at this time that need my full attention which means I won’t be able to give my full attention to the City. Anything else being talked about is speculation. The reasons are personal, not political. I need this time to take care of myself.”
Before coming to work for the City of Edinburg, Mr. Rodriguez spent the last six years working for the Regional Mobility Authority. He also previously served the City of McAllen as Assistant City Manager, Director of Public Works, City Engineer and Director of Traffic.
“Career wise, there’s a demand for him. When you’re as talented as Pilar is, people want you to be part of their team. He’s returning to the RMA to finish a job he started there. That’s where his passion is. ” Said Mayor Richard Molina. “It’s going to be very hard to fill his shoes. He brings a wealth of knowledge with him and we’re grateful for the time and expertise he’s shared with Edinburg.”
The search for a new City Manager is already underway. Edinburg has two Assistant City Managers, Sonia Marroquin and Carla Rodriguez, who will cover day to day operations. “Our ACM’s are highly qualified. It’s business as usual in Edinburg.” Mayor Molina said.
