“It’s a brand-new year and the Board of Directors of the McAllen Citizens League has been working on new ways to take the League to new heights”, said Christopher Julian, President of the League. “We have unanimously approved moving our monthly meetings to the McAllen Chamber of Commerce”, Julian added.

The Chamber has agreed to co-host the meetings and invite all chamber members to our meetings. The meetings will be catered by one of our local restaurants. With this upgrade comes slightly higher costs for the meal. Therefore, the board approved increasing the lunch fee to $18 for members and $20 for non-members. We are confident the experience will be well worth the increase.

Our January 23rd noon meeting will be a Political Forum. The invited speakers are State Representative District 41 Democratic candidates Roberto D. Guerra, incumbent and challenger Richard Gonzales. The Republican candidate is Dr. John Guerra. Also invited are District 36 Democratic candidates incumbent Sergio Munoz, Jr., and challenger Abraham Padron. The meeting is open to the public but you’ll need to RSVP for lunch no later than Monday, January 20th to cjulian@advertir.net or call 956-682-5566.
