BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up to commemorate the nation’s independence with a grand celebration at the highly anticipated “Salute toFreedom” event on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Brownsville Sports Park. This family-friendly event promises an evening filled with entertainment, fireworks, delicious food, and unforgettable moments.

The highlight of the evening will be a breathtaking 25-minute fireworks show, lighting up the night sky with a mesmerizing display of colors and patterns. Guests of all ages are invited to gather their picnic blanketsand lawn chairs, or even opt for tailgating, to witness this extraordinary spectacle. The fireworks will beginat 9:23 PM, ensuring a dazzling start to the Fourth of July weekend.

To kick off the festivities, gates will open at 5 PM, while tailgating opens at 4 PM, providing attendees ample time to secure their spot and explore the various attractions. Live entertainment will be provided by three of Brownsville’s talented local bands Cleiri, Audio Escape, and Vaquero Cowboy. These bands areknown for their electrifying performances that capture audiences throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

The event organizers are pleased to announce that H-E-B, a trusted community partner, will be sponsoring the Veterans Pavilion. This dedicated area will offer veterans and their

families a comfortable space to enjoy the festivities while indulging in delicious food provided by H-E-B.Furthermore, attendees visiting the pavilion will have the opportunity to receive exclusive promotional itemsas a token of appreciation for their service to the nation.

“We are thrilled to present the ‘Salute to Freedom’ event, providing an unforgettable experience for our community on this momentous occasion,” said Event Committee Member, Shannon Guerrero-Contreras. “This celebration not only pays tribute to our country’s independence but also honors the brave men and women who have selflessly served our nation. We are grateful to H-E-B, the City of Brownsville, and the Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau for their support in making this event a resounding success.”

The Brownsville Sports Park, offers ample parking for all attendees, ensuring a convenient and hassle-free experience. With tailgating permitted, families and friends can enjoy the festivities while savoring theirfavorite snacks and refreshments, while they cook out under the stars.
