Texas Border Business
McAllen, Texas – BBVA Compass has appointed Leslie Bingham to its Lower Rio Grande Valley advisory board and Alex Meade to its Upper Rio Grande Valley advisory board, where they will help the bank identify opportunities in a market known for its fast-growing business and economic prosperity.
Bingham is the current CEO of Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, holding the position since 2006, shortly after her stint as the Chief Operation Officer. Meade is the CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation, playing a key role in the City’s and Organization’s growth and success.
“Both of our new directors bring a new and welcomed dimension to our advisory board,” said BBVA Compass Texas Border & Gulf Coast Region CEO Jon Rebello. “Leslie’s experience in the healthcare industry’s operations is going to be a pivotal part for the bank’s business since this area is well-known for its medical care. Alex and his team have partnered with BBVA Compass many times for initiatives aimed at elevating the Rio Grande Valley economically, so having him on our board was something that has been a long time coming. Our new directors know this area extremely well, and BBVA Compass is excited to have them aboard to guide us in the right direction towards further success.”
Bingham has over twenty-five years of experience as a leader and executive within the healthcare industry. Prior to joining the Valley Baptist Health System leadership team, Ms. Bingham served as the Chief Executive Officer for Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital in San Benito, Texas. Bingham holds BAE and M.Ed degrees from the University of Mississippi. She also earned her MBA from the University of Texas-Pan American.

Since taking the lead role, Mission EDC has attracted projects that offer significant job creation and capital investment in excess of $300 million. Meade received his BBA in Economics from St. Edward’s University in Austin, his MBA from UT-Brownsville, and an MPA from UT-Pan American.
“BBVA Compass has a solid foundation of creating opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley,” said BBVA Compass Lower Rio Grande Valley Market President Juan Loya. “With the addition of Leslie here in this area, and with Alex’s addition in the Upper RGV, we’re poised to build on that foundation – and we’re aiming high.”
