The Rio Grande Valley has had families with great hearts. People that are always ready and eager to help others with no hesitation.

Last month was exceptional for the Vackar family. On February 22, 2019, the Edinburg school system named a park the Janet Ogden Vackar Sports Complex. It sits on a 21-acre tract of land.

It’s with great pleasure that I introduce to you the new Border Patrol Chief Sector Rodolfo Karisch. He and a group of his team visited Rotary Club McAllenSouth and gave an update on the situation at the border.

More than three decades ago, I had an opportunity to interview Glen E. Roney. He had always been a popular man due to his dedication to the communities of South Texas, and also because of his philanthropic activities.

Texas Community Bank had the best philanthropic year in 2018. Multiple donations were made to selected nonprofit organizations that provide value to residents of the Rio Grande Valley.

January 2, 2019, a nice cold and rainy morning the day when former McAllen Mayor Richard Cortez became the Hidalgo County judge.

Glen E. Roney will always be remembered as a leader in the generation that made the Rio Grande Valley great. Glen passed away November 10, 2018, from pneumonia.

It is amazing what one man can do. Not just any man, but a man of the stature of Glen Roney. He is no longer with us. However, there are so many things he created, and the people he touched that he will be remembered for generations to come.
