AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has released a public service announcement to increase awareness about the deadly consequences of the ongoing fentanyl epidemic that is devastating Texas and the nation.

Attorney General Paxton is joined by former Dallas Cowboys player Randy White and numerous Texas parents who tragically lost their children to fentanyl-laced drugs. Often disguised as pharmaceutical painkillers or prescription medications like Xanax or Adderall, these pills are cut with highly potent and deadly fentanyl along with other illicit substances. Additional testimony from parents and community leaders will be available on the Office of the Attorney General’s website. Their stories highlight the immediate danger facing Texans today, particularly young people.

“Texas drug overdose deaths have increased over 75% during the last five years alone. Fentanyl is so potent and so deadly that one pill can kill,” said Attorney General Paxton. “To all of my fellow Texans, we treasure your life. The first step toward ending the devastation starts with understanding what we’re facing.”
