Harlingen, Texas – Effective June 4, 2020, American Airlines will replace the currently utilized all coach 44 seats Regional Jet with the 65 seat Canadian Regional Jet 700 (CRJ-700) with nine first-class seats for all flights between Dallas /Ft. Worth and Harlingen. “We welcome the larger aircraft. The CRJ-700 will offer our RGV customers the option to book a premium seat all the way from Harlingen to their final destination on American. The American Airlines’ daily seat capacity to and from VIA will increase by 48% with the larger aircraft,” said José Mulet, Director of Air Service Development at Valley International Airport.

Rio Grande Valley summer traveling customers will benefit from American’s extended destination network this summer, including nonstop flights from DFW to Fairbanks, Alaska (FAI); new nonstop service from Chicago (ORD) to Budapest, Hungary (BUD), Krakow, Poland (KRK) and Prague, Czech Republic (PRG) as well as nonstop service from Philadelphia (PHL) to Casablanca, Morocco (CMN) and Reykjavík, Iceland (KEF).  “The overall load factor since American Airlines entered the Harlingen market has been high and this is very encouraging,” Mulet added.

“This up gauge is the sign of our increased commitment in Harlingen. Since March 2019, when we started service from our DFW hub, the support we received from the community has been outstanding. We are excited to connect Harlingen to about 250 one-stop destinations around the world.” said Philippe Puech, Senior Manager of Network Planning at American.
