As the granddaughter of Mexican farmers, the belief that anything is possible through hard work was instilled in me. From supporting myself through school to building a successful small business in South Texas, my abuela’s passion, perseverance, and work ethic have been my inspiration and driving force behind achieving my American dream.

Now as a mom and the first Hispanic Republican woman to represent Texas for a full term, I am carrying on my abuela’s legacy by committing to efforts to ensure our communities are safe and secure for the next generation of young women.

For four years, we watched as the Biden Administration repeatedly put criminals above the safety of our communities, allowed biological men to overshadow women in their sports, and made achieving the American Dream, especially for young women, more difficult than ever.

President Biden’s radical policies created chaos at our border and throughout our communities. I think about young women like Laken Riley from Georgia and Jocelyn Nungaray from Houston, Texas, whose lives were cut short by criminal illegal immigrants freed into our country and allowed to commit heinous crimes.

In less than three months of the new Administration, President Trump has implemented real change and worked alongside Congress to repeal the nonsense and rebuild a foundation where women can succeed.

Laken Riley, a young nursing student from Georgia, was murdered while out on an early morning run. The Laken Riley Act, legislation I proudly supported in the House and the first bill signed into law by President Trump, restores strength to our once-broken immigration system. It requires ICE to detain criminal illegal immigrants who commit violent crimes and ensures what happened to Laken – and Jocelyn in Houston – never happens again.

Not only are we supporting women’s safety in their communities, but also on the sports field. Athletics should be a space for girls to build strength, confidence, and lasting bonds with teammates, not suffer from life-altering injuries because a biological man was allowed on their court. That is why I have long been an advocate to preserve girls’ sports for biological girls as a co-sponsor of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

Fortunately, we have a President who understands the difference between a man and a woman. Earlier this year, I joined President Trump in the White House for the signing of the executive order to keep men from participating in sports designated for women to protect safety, fairness, and dignity of female athletes.

Allowing biological men to compete against girls is wrong and Americans have had enough of the woke nonsense. Little girls should be able to live in a country where they never have to risk their safety or stand second to a biological man.

I am encouraged by the progress we have made so far and look forward to continuing our work to restore American prosperity – especially for young women across America. Alongside House Republicans, I will champion policies that protect our communities, put common sense first, and finally end the chaos.
