EDINBURG, Texas — The Edinburg Police Department is set to honor outstanding officers and staff during its Third Annual Police Department Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, February 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Edinburg Arts, Culture, and Events (ACE) Center, 315 W. McIntyre.

This special event will recognize the hard work, dedication, and heroism of department members, including milestone promotions and lifesaving actions. A historic moment will be celebrated as Sgt. Sandra E. Tapia becomes the first female in department history to be promoted to lieutenant.

Additional recognitions will include lifesaving awards, support staff of the year, and the distinguished Chief’s Coin recognition, presented to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and commitment to the community.
