RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s golf team announced on Wednesday that they will open their spring season at the Texas State Invitational from February 7-8 at Plum Creek Golf Course.

The Texas State Invitational is the first of six tournaments that UTRGV will compete in this spring leading to the Western Athletic Conference Championship that will be held from April 18-20 at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville.

“It’s always great to be able to compete in Texas because of the level of competition we have,” UTRGV head coach Bryan Novoa said. “We are excited. We are going to a couple of new courses this year that are going to be really interesting. Brackenridge Park is one of the most historical golf courses in Texas so that will be a treat for the girls. I am looking forward to the fun times and the memories that we will create.”
