Valley International Airport (VIA) installed a new state of the art jet bridge at gate 1, just in time for the holiday season.

According to Jose A. Mulet, the Director of Air Services and Business Development, this new jet bridge and the replacement jet bridge for American Airlines at gate 4 (JAN 2020), are all part of the continuing airport renovation program to offer a better customer experience for our passengers and tenants.

“Funding for these two new jet bridges comes from the airport passenger facility charges collected on the passenger’s tickets,” he told Texas Border Business. “Gates 1 and 2 are available for a domestic or international operation as both gates have sterile hallway access to the U.S Customs building. Shown on the picture located right behind jet bridge 1.”

The jet bridge can service a variety of aircraft sizes. From a 50-seat regional jet to a wide-body aircraft.  It also has air conditioning both for the jet bridge and the external aircraft A/C hook up connection.

External ground power is also available for a large variety of aircraft from the new jet bridge.

Mulet went on to say, “It will be available for use by any of VIA’s tenant carriers for dual operations, diversions, etc., however, once Delta Air Lines starts their seasonal flights December 21st, then gate 1 will be used primarily for Sun Country Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Swift Airlines.”
