RGV FC Toros and Seattle Sounders FC 2 End in a Draw

Seattle, Washington, April 12, 2016 – The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros tied 2-2 against Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Stadium. Tony Alfaro would score to pull Sounders 2 even after the Toros had taken a 2-1 lead during the second half.

Early in the game, RGV FC Toros kept the possession of the ball and were quick to attack. Jose Escalante and Jose “Memo” Rodriguez both had shots go far wide of the goal. Seattle’s goalkeeper, Charlie Lyon, denied Escalante from scoring on the 13th minute. Seattle would break free from the Toros defense and score on the 20th minute as Mansaray found the net for the Sounders.

The RGV FC Toros would score early in the second half to bring the score line even. A pass from the left side of the pitch would find George Malki, who had an incredible run from his right back position, and he buried the ball to the left of the goal to tie the game 1-1 at the 50th minute. It would only take the Toros three minutes to double their lead. Collen Warner headed back a cross which then took a close range deflection from Emilio Garcia.

Seattle started applying pressure and started getting more offensive touches on the ball. Their efforts would get them a goal off a set piece. In the 84th minute, Tony Alfaro would find himself space and head down a cross by Oneil Fisher to bring the score even 2-2. Just a few moments later, Toros goalkeeper, Devin Perales, would have an amazing save to deny Andy Craven and keep both teams even.

The RGV FC Toros are know 1-1-1. The Toros will visit Real Monarchs SC on April 12 before their home opener to LA Galaxy II on April 30.
