Governor Abbott emphasized that Texas continues to attract cutting-edge manufacturing, noting that projects like Avant’s expansion in Pharr are critical to strengthening the state’s leadership in semiconductor production. Beyond job creation, the initiative will provide hands-on training opportunities, ensuring the region’s workforce is prepared for the demands of tomorrow’s technology-driven economy.

A key component of the project is Avant Technology’s partnership with South Texas College, which will give students direct access to advanced manufacturing equipment and real-world training in semiconductor assembly and quality control. This collaboration highlights Pharr’s commitment to aligning education with industry needs, creating a pipeline of skilled talent within the region.

State and local leaders praised the investment as a major win for Pharr and the Rio Grande Valley. Officials pointed to the city’s leadership, strategic location, and business-friendly environment as key factors in attracting Avant Technology. As the first TSIF-supported project in South Texas, the expansion underscores Pharr’s growing influence in one of the world’s most critical industries—cementing its role as a driver of innovation, opportunity, and long-term economic growth.
