PALMVIEW – On February 7, 2023, Commissioner Everardo “Ever” Villarreal joined the City of Palmview during its regularly scheduled city meeting and awarded the city $2,491,613.50 for the expansion of Veterans Blvd.
“I look forward to building on our relationship with the City of Palmview and the opportunity to help the city achieve its long-term transportation needs,” said Commissioner Villarreal.
The expansion of Veterans Blvd. will span from La Homa Road to Abram Road and will consist of converting the existing road to a four-lane road with a center turn lane. The expansion will also include 5-foot sidewalks, one on each side of the road, for pedestrian traffic.
“I hope that this check reflects our commitment to the City of Palmview, its residents, and to our small businesses in the area,” added Commissioner Villarreal.
The project is scheduled to start next year. Hidalgo County Precinct 3 continues to work with its engineering partners to finalize details and acquire the necessary parcels for the expansion.
