Wilson Elementary’s Minitropolis held in fourth annual Grand Opening on Nov. 20. The school also held a ribbon-cutting to welcome its new partners. 

Dr. Kristine Garza, Wilson’s Principal, welcomed three new partners including Southern Roots Flower Shop, Dragon Warrior Noodle, and Main Squeeze. 

Those attending included McAllen ISD Superintendent Dr. J.A. Gonzalez and Mayor Jim Darling. Patrick Roberts, representing the Office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez, presented a US flag that was flown over the White House for Wilsonville.

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce President, Steve Ahlenius, presented a plaque acknowledging Wilsonville as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Wilsonville also wants to thank McAllen ISD School Board Members, IBC Bank President- Adrian Villareal and IBC Bank’s Dora Brown who were instrumental in making this happen. Wilsonville was established in 2016. Students in a Minitropolis program learn financial literacy and many soft skills needed in the adult world.
