The McAllen Chamber names Alexandra Arevalo, its current Director of Sales, as its Interim Director of Convention & Visitors Bureau also known as Visit McAllen.   Alex has been with the CVB for over two years working in a sales capacity, previously as a Convention Sales Manager and is currently the CVB McAllen Director of Sales.  Prior to her time with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, she worked for the City of McAllen as an Event Coordinator for the Convention Center and Performing Arts Center. She began her career in the hospitality industry in Austin, Texas, where she worked with a destination management company handling incentive travel for Fortune 500 companies. Arevalo graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Now, Arevalo works to market McAllen to promote tourism and drive economic growth to the city. 

Alex has been with the CVB since 2019 and looks forward to continuing in Robert’s footsteps. “Robert Lopez, our current Convention & Visitors Bureau Vice President, has done a fantastic job leading our team for the last few years and I know I have big shoes to fill, but I’m confident we can carry on with Robert’s plan,” said Alex.  I am excited to continue to lead the team in a forward-thinking way.”  

“We’re very excited to have Alex as our new Interim Director of CVB. She brings a lot to the table and we’re confident she will do an amazing job. Her current relationships with the hotels are another value added that will aid in her transition to her new position,” stated Blanca Cardenas, Interim President/CEO.
