In celebration of the Week of the Young Child, Texas Southmost College’s Teacher Education Program, led by Dr. Diana H. Cortez-Castro, Program Coordinator, will proudly host their Children’s Play Day at the Gladys Porter Zoo.
The event is designed to promote early childhood education, with students from TSC’s Teacher Education Program offering a variety of interactive learning stations for children to enjoy. “This Play Day is a playful invitation for our community to engage in play and learning,” says Dr. Cortez-Castro. “We hope you will join us in advocating for children’s right to play, and we look forward to seeing you there.”

Children will be given their own passport booklet and are encouraged to visit different play stations around the zoo. Each station will be themed around different countries and animals from around the world, allowing them to earn stamps in their booklet. Those who collect ten stamps will be eligible to receive a free goodie bag, which will include treats and a book.
Additionally, TSC recruiters will be on-site to provide information on various programs and degree plans for those who are interested furthering their education at Texas Southmost College.
Participation in the event will be free to visitors with the purchase of a general admission or those with a zoo membership.
