UTRGV Men’s Track & Field Picked Third, Women Picked Fourth At WAC Indoor Championships

NAMPA, Ida. – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Wednesday the indoor track & field coaches polls, with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men’s team getting picked third and the women’s team getting picked fourth in advance of Friday and Saturday’s WAC Championships.

The UTRGV men received one first-place vote, the only team other than Grand Canyon to receive such a vote while finishing with 17 points. Grand Canyon was a unanimous pick to win the WAC title, earning 25 points. Utah Valley was picked second with 20 points. Kansas City was picked fourth with 14 points. Seattle U and Chicago State tied for fifth with seven points each.

The UTRGV women received 31 points, behind Grand Canyon, which received five first-place votes for 47 points, Utah Valley, which received two first-place votes for 40 points, and New Mexico State, which received the remaining first-place vote for 39 points. Kansas City was picked fifth with 28 points. Seattle U was picked sixth with 16 points. CSU Bakersfield was picked seventh with 13 points. Chicago State was picked eighth with 10 points.
