A new flight service to San Luis Potosi will start before the Christmas 2013 this according to Lic. Jaime Sacal, Director of Sales and Marketing for the airline. As of 2010, the state of San Luis Potosi has a population of more than 2.5 million according to the statistics of the Instituto Nacional de Estadisticas y Geografia.

Nowadays the city is one of the main industrial centers in central Mexico with a prolific manufacturing industry. A number of foreign industries invested in San Luis Potosí in the last decades thanks to its strategic location for trade, as the city is located halfway between México City and the United States border, as well as in the middle of the triangle formed by Mexico City and the other two largest cities of the republic, Guadalajara, Jalisco and Monterrey, Nuevo Léon.

Sacal pointed out that they have started to promote the flight to their customers. “The flights begin on November 14, 2013 and will be operated with the ATR 42-500 plane, also with 50 seats.”  He continued, “There will be three flights a week with additional operations on holidays and vacations.”

He pointed out that they identified that there is significant potential for business travelers, mainly in the areas of automotive, energy, agriculture, and certainly in regards to the maquiladora industry.

Sacal also added that their perspective is regional, both around San Luis Potosi (SLP), and the Rio Grande Valley, including Reynosa.

“This is what we see that unites both destinations and of course the shopping, friends and family.”

He told Texas Border Business during an Exclusive interview that the state of SLP has an extensive relationship with Texas in various ways and this new flight service will allow them to link the two destinations, especially joining the north central and the lower part of Mexico with the Rio Grande Valley.
