President Alma Ortega Johnson presents a $10K grant to the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Education Foundation

For the 11th consecutive year, IDEA college preparatory schools in the Rio Grande Valley were ranked among the best performing high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Vegetables, fruits, lean protein, water and dairy, hooray! It’s all about making healthy dietary choices and, according to a recent Gallup and Sharecare’s Community Rankings for Healthy Eating report, the McAllen MSA ranked 4th out of 40 cities across the U.S. with healthiest diets.

IBC Bank released results from a Perryman Group report the bank commissioned, “The Economic Costs of the U.S.-Mexico Border Slowdown.” The report confirmed the long-touted assertion that U.S. ports of entry are underfunded, understaffed and overwhelmed by increasing levels of trade.

Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez held a Purple Heart County sign installation ceremony at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 25 in the Commissioners Courtroom in honor of all county veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart.
