EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg is ready to rumble! The Parks and Recreation Department is set to host the South Texas Junior Boxing Olympics May 1 through May 3 at 315 E. Mark S. Peña Drive. The premier youth sporting event, sanctioned by the South Texas Amateur Boxing Association (STABA), will feature over 250 boxing matches Friday through Sunday.

Over 430 male and female boxers, ages 8 to 16, are registered to compete. Participants hail from across the STABA region, including Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Laredo, Corpus Christi, and the entire Rio Grande Valley. The event attracts not only young athletes, but also an estimated 200 coaches and 58 STABA officials. 

Schedule of Events:
Friday, May 1
Opening Ceremony: 5:30 PM
Bouts: 6 PM – 10 PM
Doors Open: 5 PM
Saturday, May 2
Bouts: 1 PM – 9:30 PM
Doors Open: 12 PM
Sunday, May 3
Bouts: 1 PM – 5:30 PM
Doors Open: 12 PM

Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance at the Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department (315 E. Mark S. Peña Dr.) or at the door the day of the event.

General admission is $12 per day, VIP seats are $20 per day, and a three-day general admission pass costs $25. Children ages 5 and under get in free. For more information, please call (956) 381-5631.
