AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Republican candidates for statewide office met together for the first time to coordinate strategy ahead of the November general election, describing the gathering as an effort to maintain Republican control of statewide offices.
In a post on Facebook, Abbott said, “Last night, for the first time ever, ALL statewide Republican candidates (non-judicial) gathered to chart the course to victory in November.”
A photograph accompanying the post showed Abbott with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton and other Republican statewide candidates.
Abbott said the meeting focused on preparing for the November election and maintaining Republican leadership in Texas.
“We will ensure Texas remains solid Red and we will preserve common sense over the chaotic policies promoted by radical Democrats,” Abbott wrote.
The governor did not provide additional details about the meeting, including its agenda or location.
The gathering comes as Republican candidates prepare for the statewide general election in November, when voters will choose candidates for several statewide executive offices. Texas election officials have scheduled the general election for Nov. 3, 2026.
Abbott’s post emphasized party unity among Republican candidates as they begin the final months of the statewide campaign.
