Suspect Wanted for Aggravated Robbery, Police Learn his True Name

            In the course of the investigation police officers learned the suspect’s true name and are searching for Eddy Alejandro Mercado 33 years of age and is also known as Rene Garcia Sandoval. A warrant of arrest for Aggravated Robbery has been issued for Mercado.

On February 26, 2010 at approximately 4:30 pm the victim is in his vehicle and stopped at the intersection of W. Oakland and S. Bicentennial Blvd. The suspect confronted the victim and displayed a handgun. The suspect stole the victim’s vehicle a 1999 Infinity Qx4 SUV.

Police are investigating the Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest. Efforts to arrest the suspect lead to pursuit which ended in an area in Mission . The suspect fled on foot and officers lost sight of the suspect. He is believed to be armed and dangerous. The victim identified the suspect and police are searching for him and he is described as Hispanic male, 33 years of age, 5’7” in height, and about 160 pounds in weight.
