EDINBURG, TX— Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) will launch its Get Fit, Eat Right Community Campaign with a National Nutritional Awareness Celebration on Friday March 5th, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in The Women’s Hospital at Renaissance parking lot, located on the corner of McColl and Dove in Edinburg.
The Nutrition Celebration will feature a discounted fruit and vegetable sale to kick-off National Nutrition Month in conjunction with DHR’s Get Fit, Eat Right Community Campaign, which is aimed at reducing diabetes and obesity in the Rio Grande Valley.
The event will include a Farmers Market, diabetes screening, and the presentation of educational literature on how to eat healthily. Additionally, staff from the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Bariatric Weight Loss Center will provide participants with pedometers and information on how to get fit, stay healthy, and prevent the onset of diabetes and obesity. The event is free of charge and open to the entire community.
To launch its Get Fit, Eat Right Community Campaign, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance will host a press conference on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 11 AM at the Women’s Hospital Board Room. At the press conference, DHR will also introduce its newly formed South Texas Diabetes and Obesity Prevention Institute.
