EDINBURG, Texas – The Weslaco Border Patrol Explorer Post participated and assisted in multiple events during the 2019 National Police Week held in Washington D.C. Each year during National Police Week, thousands of men and women in law enforcement and supporting law enforcement travel to our Nation’s capital to remember the agents and officers who died in the line of duty.

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the young men and women from the Rio Grande Valley to pay tribute to all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The Weslaco Border Patrol Explorers participated in the 38th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol and assisted with the Pipes and Drums Competition.

Afterwards, the Explorer Post toured the Pentagon to learn about the military history, which highlighted the respective missions of the five Armed Services, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Joint Staff.
