VMHS students earn AP Scholar recognition

Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) had a total of 13 students earn AP Scholar recognition for their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement (AP) exams. 

The College Board’s AP program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous, college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP exams. 

One student qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by receiving an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams. Nathen Khaleghi is the student that earned this recognition.

One Class of 2020 graduate, Damien Gonzalez, qualified for the AP with Honor Award which is earned by receiving an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.

Fourteen students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher. Current VMHS students who earned this award are Lucas Dovalina, Adrian Gallardo, Kristine Hernandez, and Kennidy Rudd. Members of the Class of 2020 who earned this honor are Luis Chavez, Oscar Correa, Leila De Leon, Kelly Lam, Paul McCoy, Alan Mendez, and Rodrigo Moran.
