PHARR, TX – The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is proud to recognize Vantage Bank Texas as their ‘Donor of the Month’ for January 2021. Vantage Bank Texas and the Loring Cook Foundation have partnered to make a generous donation, in the amount of $10,000 that will immediately enable the Food Bank RGV to provide up to 50,000 life-sustaining meals, through various distributions and within the 275 Food Bank RGV partner agencies. “This is such an important time to give back to the community and we are proud to be able to be part of this wonderful initiative with the Food Bank,” said Thomas Davidson, Vantage Bank Texas Market President.

To provide direct assistance during this critical time, the Food Bank RGV will partner with Vantage Bank Texas for a Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry (DTEP) on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 7:00am – 10:00am, or until capacity is reached, at the Food Bank RGV located at 724 N. Cage Blvd in Pharr. This distribution will provide food assistance for up to 700 to individuals and families, impacted by the health and financial crisis of Covid-19.

“Because of this thoughtful and sizable gift from Vantage Bank Texas, the Food Bank RGV is able to count on the certainty of tens of thousands of additional meals, during this health crisis and uncertainty. Food Bank RGV and our community thank Vantage Bank Texas for their support of our mission and sponsorship of our DTEP, when food insecurity is at its highest and meals are more critical than ever,” said Stuart I.R. Haniff, MHA, CEO of the Food Bank RGV.

This DTEP will follow the Food Bank RGV’s mobile drive-thru model of little or no contact. Staff, volunteers, and the Texas Army National Guard will assist with the distribution of food. Produce and shelf-stable bags of food will be placed into the vehicle trunks of attendees. There is a limit of 2 families (2 people) per car to receive assistance. ID and proof of address are required. All vehicle occupants must wear face coverings and car trunks must be completely empty. Distribution is open to all in need of food assistance and is first come, first served. Clients may utilize the Food Bank RGV’s DTEP once every 30 days.
