Texas Border Business

As Hidalgo County moves to reopen businesses, Hidalgo County Tax Office wants to let our fellow citizens know that we are reopening all Tax Office locations throughout the county.  Effective Monday, May 11th, 2020, all lobbies will be opened to the public.  The hours of operations will continue to be 8 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

We would like to remind members of the public that services continue to be provided online.  Registration renewals can be made online at www.texas.gov.  Property tax payments can be made online at www.hidalgocountytax.org with an E-Check or Credit Card. You can also mail in payments to Hidalgo County Tax Office PO BOX 178, Edinburg, TX 78540. Or you can drop off payment via check at our dropbox. Our dealership customers will continue to drop off their transactions at all our locations.  Please have your logs completed prior to the visit

In keeping with the Commissioners’ Court adopted policy, we will require all members of the public to wear a facial covering in order to enter our offices to complete a transaction.  We will continue the important steps of Social Distancing that have helped us get to the point of opening up.  We will also continue the practice of allowing only one (1) person per visit.

We have seen that Social Distancing has caused delays and long lines for our customers.  We have implemented procedures that will help us move those lines as quickly as possible.  Lines will still be long at times and we ask that taxpayers come prepared.

We thank you for your patience these past several weeks and we want to ask you for that continued patience which has helped us during this stressful time. Please be mindful of your fellow citizens as you visit our offices. As conditions change we will notify the public of any operational changes in consultation with Commissioner’s Court.  If you have any questions, please contact our office at (956) 318-2157.
