PHARR, Texas – Pharr Community Theater will be hosting a Spanish-Language Comedy Event, July 18th & 19th. The production is entitled: “Age Is Just a Number” (La edad es solo un número): A hilarious comedy by Pete Romero, directed by Roxana Badillo.
Four performances will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19, 2026, at the Pharr Community Theater (213 W. Newcombe Ave., Pharr, TX). Showtimes are 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM each day.
Tickets will be available at the door for $15 (subject to availability) starting one hour before each performance. Seating is limited to the first 55 people per show. The theater is cozy and intimate, offering excellent views from every seat
SYNOPSIS:
Zenaida, a 24-year-old woman, tells her mother she is about to fulfill her dream of traveling to Europe with her new boyfriend. Upon digging a little deeper, her mother—a widow—discovers that her daughter’s boyfriend is 30 years her senior and faints. The next morning, she tries to convince Zenaida that a 30-year age gap is excessive, but even Zenaida’s sister fails to persuade her. The mother, an attractive woman, decides to intervene and even consults her own father, Bonifacio Rivera, for advice. When Zenaida introduces her boyfriend to her mother, the situation takes an unexpected turn: Samuel Fuerte, the 54-year-old boyfriend, falls instantly in love with his partner’s mother. When Zenaida discovers the relationship between her mother and Samuel, the story takes another surprising twist that sparks endless laughter—and perhaps leaves the audience with a heartwarming sense of connection and affection for these unforgettable characters. -The program will include a brief scene per scene translation in English.
