BROWNSVILLE, Texas  – Today, the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) proudly announces a pioneering partnership to bring Subcity’s incentive matching and application expertise to new and existing businesses in the southernmost region of Texas. This signifies the first announced Subcity partnership with an Economic Development Organization and the first formal agreement in the state of Texas.

“This partnership with Subcity will enable us to assist the business owners we engage with daily in navigating the complexity of government incentives and tax credits,” said Bret Gardella, Executive Director & CEO of Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC). “We are charged with fostering economic prosperity in the Greater Brownsville area and one of the best ways we can do this is connecting our growing businesses with the local, state, and federal dollars that were designed to help them hire, buy equipment, train their workforce, and invest in their communities.

Over the last three years, the Subcity team has digitized hundreds of local, state, and federal grants, loans, and other economic incentives and tax credits. The platform simplifies the identification of relevant programs for small and medium-sized businesses and streamlines the incentive reports for businesses growing in Brownsville or contemplating expansion in the Greater Brownsville region and provide application assistance.

Subcity has worked with hundreds of clients nationwide, successfully claiming and collecting tens of millions in business incentives across various grants, discounts, exemptions, deductions, and tax credits. These economic incentives, once the exclusive domain of public companies with national accounting firms, are now accessible to the small and medium-sized businesses that drive our economy.

“Subcity’s mission is to help small businesses succeed and ensure our cities remain engines of upward mobility.” said Alex White, CEO and co-founder of Subcity. “Our collaboration with Greater Brownsville allows us to live up to our name and intention of connecting a city’s local businesses with the subsidies that are often overlooked or only accessible to the largest companies with teams of tax attorneys.”
