Texas Border Business –

McALLEN, TX – The National Professional Hispanic Organization (NHPO) – RGV Chapter invites you to its monthly Networking Event on Thursday, June 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. hosted by Remington’s at the Embassy Suites located on 1800 S 2nd St. in McAllen. NHPO-RGV, along with other organizations like IBC Bank, Boys & Girls Club of McAllen, KURV, Texas Regional Bank, Socialife Magazine, Gym at Uptown and the RGV Partnership, have teamed up to gather supplies for care packages that will be sent to our active military troops deployed overseas for the Operation Interdependence Campaign. Help us bring a piece of “home” to these men and women serving our country.

This will be the last of a series of mixers where supplies and/or monetary donations are collected to help make this campaign possible. Other businesses such as the Boys & Girls Club of McAllen, IBC Bank branches, Gym at Uptown, Texas Regional Bank branches and Tierra Dulce will also serve as a “donation drop” for this campaign.

We ask for your continuous support to bring your change and/or supplies for our troops. Small travel size items such as toiletries (body lotion, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, chapstick, disposable razors, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, foot powder, feminine products) and individually packaged/sealed food items (beef jerky, granola bars, gum, candy, cookies, nuts, seeds, trail mix, oatmeal-flat packs, snack crackers, fruit snacks, drink mixes) are the ideal items. And if you are a teacher, you can encourage your students to get involved by writing a letter of support to a soldier overseas. These letters will also be placed in each of the care packages. It’s a great way to teach our children and youth our appreciation for the military’s sacrifice and dedication to our country.

If you are unable to make any of the events, you can still make a donation at any IBC Bank branch to account number #2511726513. Every penny goes directly to buying supplies for our brave soldiers. You can also get more information about Operation Interdependence at www.facebook.com/oirgv or by calling 956-632-3589.

And to finalize this campaign, we will gather on Thursday, July 10, from 5:00-9:00 pm at the Salvation Army on 1600 N. 23rd St. in McAllen for the “Packing Party” where these care packages will be put together. Refreshments will also be provided. We are inviting the entire community to join us at this fun and family-oriented event. Please call 956-632-3589 if you would like to participate.
