The City of McAllen Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Individuals who are ready to serve their community with courage, integrity, and pride are encouraged to apply and take the next step toward a rewarding career in law enforcement.

Applications will be available beginning Friday, August 21, 2026. The Police Officer Entrance Examination will be administered on:
• Tuesday, October 13, 2026 
• Exam Time: 9:00 a.m. (Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.)
• Location: McAllen Convention Center Ballroom, 700 Convention Center Blvd., McAllen, Texas

The annual base salary for police officers is $67,295, with additional incentive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid vacation and sick leave following the one-year probationary period.

Applicants must meet minimum eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. Additional requirements and qualifications are available on the City’s website.
