During the ceremony, a Liberty Tree was officially planted in the park. Historically used by colonists as a rallying point for freedom, this new Liberty Tree stands as a lasting symbol of courage, unity, and the enduring pursuit of liberty. The planting beautifully bridges the past and the present, connecting America’s founding ideals directly to the continued service and sacrifice of the modern-day heroes who defend them.

About the Liberty Tree Tradition

The original Liberty Tree was a famous elm tree in Boston, Massachusetts, near which colonists staged the first acts of defiance against British rule. Today, Liberty Tree plantings across the country serve as living history, reminding communities of the deep roots of American independence and the shared responsibility to preserve it.
