Intersection Reconstruction at FM 494 (Shary Road)/Mile 4 East in Alton, July 7th – October

ALTON – A reconstruction project planned on the east side of FM 494 and Mile 4 East in Alton will impact traffic from the intersection to 2000 feet east of the intersection for approximately 3 months.

A contractor working on the FM 494 (Shary Road) Widening Project is upgrading the crossing to include new sidewalks, ramps and traffic signals.

The work starts on July 7 and is expected to be completed by October 2026 and could impact bus routes for the upcoming school year. Drivers are advised to follow a signed detour or seek alternate routes.
